About The Grand at 81 Mary

Welcome to The Grand at 81 Mary Street, Charleston’s premier venue owned and operated by Duvall Catering & Events. Located in the heart of downtown Charleston just steps from King Street, the venue offers 13,000 square feet of versatile indoor and outdoor event space. Key features of The Grand include original exposed brick, wooden beams, unique rosette windows, stunning chandeliers, state-of-the-art audio/visual capabilities, and beautifully designed bride and groom suites.

Originally built in the 1850s as a Gothic Revival style railroad station, 81 Mary Street played a vital role in Charleston’s transportation history. Designed by architect Edward C. Jones, the station featured a grand entrance large enough to accommodate a train. It later housed the Charleston Bagging & Manufacturing Company, The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau headquarters, before ultimately becoming the Charleston School of Law in 2004.

Slated to open in the fall of 2025, The Grand at 81 Mary is supported by forty-six years of expertise from Duvall Catering & Events, Charleston’s oldest catering company, established in 1978. We specialize in creating unforgettable events with exceptional catering, bar services, floral designs, and elegant décor to make your event truly unique. We also will arrange all additional services including rental items, lounge furniture, specialty linens, tablescape elements, etc. As always, we are committed to providing fresh and innovative cuisine, beautiful presentations, and impeccable service.

The venue accommodates up to 500 guests for seated events and up to 1,000 guests for cocktail receptions, making it the ideal setting for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate receptions, galas, and more. The venue rental fee includes modern white china, gold flatware, glassware, gold chiavari chairs with ivory cushions, 60” dining tables, and bridal and grooms suites.
